This is a little piece of awesomeness! Hold on Stallion Ridge fans, because Scarlet has the stage, and he OWNS it. In the world of outrageous shifters and adventure that Maz Maddox has created, there is a fabulous creature in the center of all of it that we never really knew. The mimic Scarlet Rose is a sweet man who can change his body into almost any shape he desires. He loves dresses and sparkles and sex, usually all together at once. So of course, when he decides to head off to the big city to find his fortune, there are going to be interesting adventures that follow. I expected fun, which was very much here. I did not expect the emotional gut punches from the vulnerable side of our favorite saloon guy. Maddox gives us the best of Stallion Ridge in this story of finding out where you belong. The romance and sex between Scarlet and his satyr are ridiculously hot and fantastic. We also get a truly abhorrent bad guy who made me cringe every time he appeared on the page. This little novella has it all. If you haven’t read the other stories you will still love our Scarlet. He is unapologetically himself and we wouldn’t have him any other way. I recommend reading the other books in the Stallion Ridge series before this one– the story of Scarlet will have more of an impact, plus you have the added bonus of all the other great books in the series. This one is my favorite and I look forward to seeing what happens next in Stallion Ridge.
