Emily and Andrew are now in New York City where the second demon resides, but this time destroying the demon will not be easy since he is a lawyer with very shady clients. Getting him in the right place at the right time is the problem facing Emily and Andrew. They have taken a very cheap studio apartment and have spent quite a while tailing the lawyer with no immediate ideas as to where they can get him alone. Once again it was Emily who came up with an idea.
The lawyer, Mr. Lazzari, is part owner of a club called the Electric City and that is where Emily and Andrew decide would be the best place to find him and get the lay of the land so to speak. It becomes apparent that Lazzari leaves each time with a beautiful woman on his arm and these women appear to be prostitutes so Emily’s idea is to try to get friendly with one of the girls and try to gain her trust. Emily will reveal herself as a hooker in need of a job and a good lawyer to help defend her against an arrest she had in Florida. Emily has once again put herself in the line of fire but as much as Andrew doesn’t like the idea it seems to be the best one they have.
Andrew is growing to care for Emily more and more and for the first time in his life he has eyes for only one woman, and unfortunately sex with her would cause him another year on Earth. He takes a lot of cold showers but has been able to keep his hormones under control. The question of course is for how long he can hold out. In addition to meeting one of the prostitutes and getting her to give her a phone number to call so she can get introduced to Lazzari she also has her best friend Troy set her up with a criminal record so if the lawyer checks everything is on the up and up.
Andrew presents himself as her partner or pimp and it doesn’t take long before Emily has a meeting with the lawyer. She finds out what is expected of her and how she is to pay for his services, I won’t reveal that. Although they have met with the lawyer there is still no easy answer as to how to kill him. Cameras are everywhere and they can’t just kill him with people around. Once again Troy to the rescue because he has the answer and it seems fool proof. Things start looking up until Andrew and Emily become curious about how much she would make as a hooker. Approaching two men who immediately hand her money she tries to return she finds herself arrested for solicitation.
I don’t want to give too much away but Emily is in jail where her fingerprints are taken meaning the Chicago police will soon be coming to get her. She has also been arrested on a Friday night meaning she will have to stay in jail until after the weekend. If that isn’t enough she and Andrew still need to find a way to get to the lawyer and Andrew has managed to totally piss off Troy who wants him gone one way or another for getting Emily in trouble. He can only see danger for Emily if she insists on helping Andrew.
Each book picks up where the prior one ended with another demon to find and destroy. I highly recommend this series and can’t wait to read the rest.
