Being attacked by the Broyx and crashing on a primitive planet was not in Claudyem's plans, even though she is used to mishaps in her work as a mercenary. And, to top off the day, when she emerges from her wrecked ship, she encounters a fearsome and sexy half-snake alien who, instead of finishing her off, kidnaps her and takes her to a cave. With what intention? And...why does he stare at her so intently?

Aeyser can't believe it. A snake from the sky has fallen on his land. When he comes face to face with it...he didn't expect a strange female to emerge from within. And the moment she attacks him, marking him and initiating the mating ritual, he doesn't hesitate.
He accepted her challenge!
He found his partner.
However, he will not have things easy as he does not understand her language and his female, no doubt, is a warrior with a fierce and warm heart.
Will he get her to love him and forget about the stars?

Claudyem is a bounty hunter and when she captured the boss of the Broyx Mercenaries she became a target for their revenge. After being attacked by them she executed a space jump only her ship shut down and she crashed. The next thing she remembers is waking up to a snake man holding her, but she fights back an action that proves to ignite the alien’s belief that she is his mate. On a planet inhabited by snake people, lack of communication despite her translator becomes secondary to actions. She has landed on the planet Seerpeland where if a female attacks a male, it is a challenge for mating.

Aeyser is fascinated by the female he believes to be his companion and the one that will give him pups while Claudyem’s translator translates a few words like, pups, mate and nest none of which is reassuring and none of which she will possibly be participating in. Aeyser has a human face, a tail, claws, fangs and scales and Claudyem knows that she must learn how to communicate with him before she can return to her ship to make repairs.

Aeyser is willing to do whatever is necessary to make his partner comfortable and will wait for them to mate until she knows him better. Since they can’t communicate with each other it will take time and Claudyem does not feel threatened in fact she finds Aeyser sexy and is lusting after him, go figure.

Seerpeland is a violent planet where trespassing on someone’s property would lead to a fight to the death. Aeyser has built his nest in a cave which is well hidden, but he still must be on his guard every time he goes hunting. Little by little the two learn to communicate enough that they can express what they want.

Aeyser is willing to give his life to protect his partner and Claudyem wants them to mate. The first half of the book is all about mating, mate or don’t mate, wait or don’t wait, and it made for a slow read. The second half of the story picked up and I found myself caring for the two main characters. This is sci-fi and is expected to be out of the norm but there were times that the out of the norm was too ridiculous I.e., Aeyser’s terminology for his penis and his sudden understanding of what he wants to do when he mates with Claudyem.

All in all, the second half of the book is what kept me reading till the end. There was danger a life and death battle and a desire to find out what happens to Claudyem and Aeyser. There was a fun element which was provided by Claudyem’s virtual assistant or as he called himself her virtual husband. There will be another book in the series involving a character who appears in the second half, and I look forward to her story.
