I survived the Big C. And now, every day is a candy cane kiss. I’m making up for lost time—living large and rocking around the Christmas tree at my best friend’s wedding. Destination—Røros, aka Christmas Town, sparkling lights, and real-life reindeer. And then, what to my wandering eyes should appear—Rurik Andersen, this giant from a mystical place, wraps me in his balsam scent, stuffing my stocking with naughty and nice.

The skies dance, ribbons of light touching the heavens—the ghosts of Christmas past hide within the twinkling stars. The centuries leave me. How many winters must I survive without her? So long I have awaited her return to the mortal realm. The Norns of Fate answer my wish, returning my heart, my soul. She doesn’t know who we are to each other—only our union will make it so. Cristabel Johnston makes my eternal life worth living.

Unwrapped in Roros is a steamy romance with unexpected twists that leave you panting and saying “awww.”

Christabel Johnson is the gutsy heroine with laugh out loud lines and true insecurities that many women face—but she can’t let that stop her. Not after cancer almost took her life and took part of her outward beauty. A little retreat in Norway to heal and reset is what she craves—but meeting a man who looks like a cross between a Viking warrior and Norse god is an unexpected bonus.

Rurik is taken aback by Christabel who tries to charm, and instead blurts out whatever is on her mind. This, however, is just what charms him. He can see into her soul—because after all, he is her soul mate. But this isn’t the normal steamy winter break novella. The gorgeous giant of a man with a golden scruff and piercing blue and brown eyes is holding a secret. His fate and Christabel’s have been woven together for centuries. Rurik knows it—but can he convince Christine?

Park weaves this heart wrenchingly beautiful story with steam and silliness. There are moments where Christine’s blurted words made me laugh out loud, but then times when Rurik’s devotion to his lover through every lifetime made my eyes well with tears. For example, Christine loves pink—and she has in every life. Rurik drives a pink trunk now, a beacon for her memories. Christine slowly allows herself to believe her visions of pasts (or is time only an illusion?). She doubts her sobriety, her sanity, and her confidence, but she doesn’t let herself Rurik for more than a moment. He’s too perfect—the place in Norway, the ends of the earth, land of the midnight sun—it’s all too perfect, and yet it fits.

This romance is a tangle of time, past and future, Norse mythology, healing, and woven through it all in the only linear strand is the beauty of Christabel and Rurik’s love for each other and the destiny which brings them together.

This sizzling, short romance will leave your heart full and your body craving your significant other, a person you can love until forever ends. Beautifully done, Hannah Park.
