It was supposed to be a simple job—tail the Italian for an evening, see if he was up to anything shady, and report back to the Bratva.
But I didn’t expect him to go into gay bars. Is someone trying to out me to the Bratva? Am I being set up?
And what the hell do I do now that my mark knows I’m following him?
Lorenzo Ferrari
It’s insulting, really. My organization wants to do business with the Russians, but they’re putting tails on me? That’s just bad manners.
But when that tail gets a beating from his own for failing to tell them everything he knows about me, I know something is up.
Now we’re both in way over our heads. Our only hope is working together.
And even then, I’m not so sure we’re getting out of this.
CW: On-page drug use, active addiction, graphic violence, suicidal ideation, domestic abuse.

I pictured Danny DeVito and Joe Peche in these roles as I see this story in my head….
Remember when you really screwed up and the voice at you screamed YOU ONLY HAD ONE JOB TO DO
Well, Cari Z and LA Witt picked a topic and went with it…..I am a Witt fan for years and this teaming up with Cari Z is a fun addition. The story could have been much darker and even more serious, yet it turned out so enjoyable.
We meet Nikita Ravenov who has been working for the Bratva for the past ten years.( Brava is short for the Russian Mafia) He got into it because of a boyfriend and now he is stuck alone with No One, struggling with a cocaine addiction and cannot find a way out. He is sent to follow Lorenzo Ferrari …..
Ferrari is in town and has a very specific and hopefully short mission dealing with the Bratva, He is a member of la Cosa Nostra. His mistake his first night on the job is taking his best friends’ son out to a few gay bars. He is surprised he is being watched but when he confronts the guy things get kind of hand. So when he sees “Nick” the next day at his meeting with the Bratva and then later that day watches Nick being thrown out of a car beaten badly, it’s even more of a mystery. The plot has now been set, as Lorenzo has a soft spot for Nick and we take off into the intrigue of two warring forces and hope they can get through this alive and together.
