Dev Medina is still dreaming of his Golden Goddess and still can’t forgive his once best friend, Conn, for an accident that left him burned and one of their men dead. Now he has been sent by Lara the High Guardian, since the death of her uncle to find Dr. Michael Peterson to warn him about the Hellhounds. Someone seems to know what the Guardians are and where they are, so the possibility of betrayal by one of the Guardians is very strong.
Dev’s first attempt at meeting the doctor does not go well, since he is not available. With time on his hands he walks on the beach only to see his Golden Goddess walking towards him. Since Dev has the ability to dream about things that quite often come true, he is convinced that she will be his, only she is walking with another man. Stunned over seeing her, he fails to get her name or phone number and continues to complete his mission for Lara.
His next attempt at find the good doctor turns out to be a shock. The doctor is actually Michaela, not Michael, and she is his Golden Goddess. He has to convince her that she must leave Galveston and return with him to Lara. As a doctor, she is not willing to just walk away from her patients or her home and is responsible for protecting one of the ancient scrolls. She is not just taking a stranger’s advice.
When the man she was walking on the beach with turns out to be an enemy, she realizes she must leave everything behind and follow Dev. She knows he will do everything in his power to protect her. With Michaela’s ability to read people’s thoughts, she knows Dev is not her enemy. What she didn’t expect was to fall in love with him. Something in her past, though, keeps her from accepting any man into her heart or life. What happened to her is something you will have to read for yourself.
There is a lot of suspense while Dev and Michaela are fighting for their lives. Can they make it to Lara and Conn? Will the Hellhounds finally get ahold of one of the scrolls? Can Michaela finally open her heart and allow Dev in? Although this is a book that can be read as a stand-alone, it would still be best to start from the beginning. This is an easy read and has sex, love, secrets, and suspense. I hungrily look forward to the next book.
