2022 RCA Author Interview with N.L. Hoffmann

If you like books that make you say, “Oh, I didn’t expect that!” Or that keep you on the edge of your seat. Or that make you forget what you were even doing because you’re so immersed in the book, then have I got the author for you–N.L. Hoffmann.

1. What was the inspiration for your Paranormal Romance Guild 2022 Reviewer’s Choice Award nominated book, Savage, in the ROMANCE/PARANORMAL/FANTASY/DEMONS & DEVILS & ANGELS and SERIES category?

My inspiration for writing the book (and series) is because of one of my favorite characters, Lucifer. He’s a reader favorite from my first series and apparently, he’s not done telling his stories or having children. He’s the part of my personality that I never show anyone else.

2. What bit of advice you would give to new writers?

Do your research before you work with someone or hire them for a service like editing or a book cover. There are a lot of people that like to take advantage, especially those new to publishing. Write what you want to write. Don’t let others tell you something is wrong or that you should take a different route. You want to be different with your stories and that’s what will keep the readers coming back for more. Allowing others to tell you what to write will eventually cause you to lose the joy you get from doing it.

3. Why do you think your book should win — in other words, what makes it unique?

My book/series should win because reading is about escaping and having an experience you wouldn’t normally have in reality. I try to create worlds that give excitement, action, romance, humor, and keep you on the edge of your seat because you don’t know what to expect next. I like making the readers say, “Well, I didn’t see that coming.” Then not be able to put the book down for the rest of the day. My goal is to make the reader forget their chores and enjoy a world where anything goes. That’s what Savage (Sons of Lucifer) provides.

N.L Hoffmann is a paranormal romance author best known for her The Daughters of Darkness series.

In her pre-teens, she began writing and developed her love for literature. Finally, in January 2014, she took the plunge by publishing Blood Slaves.

Today, Hoffmann resides in Missouri with her husband and three children. When Hoffmann isn’t busy putting words on the page she enjoys reading, drawing, playing pranks on her husband, and spending time with her family.
