Birthdays, fundraisers, and… murderous ducks?
Winifred Page-Lopez breathes a sigh of relief and shakes off any worry about a big splash for her forty-second birthday. Estes Park’s annual duck race fundraiser is sure to have tourists flocking to town and spending a fortune on raffle tickets—keeping everyone way too busy for a surprise party. But so many squeaking yellow duckies is enough to send her irascible chubby corgi, Watson, well… ducking for cover.
Another sort of surprise bubbles to the surface, however, as the winning ducks swim down the river. These bright rubber toys aren’t as wholesome as they appear, sending townspeople pecking at one another with rumor, gossip and outright physical altercations. And members of Fred’s beloved family are right in the middle of this puzzle.
The fallout from recent dangers gives Fred much to contemplate, but pleas from all sides pull her into solving this mystery. Fred knows she’ll have to ruffle some feathers to get answers, but following Watson’s nose may reveal more buried secrets…

Heavens!!!!! It’s Book #29 !!!!!! I must say I am still excited when another book in this series releases. Winifred Page- Lopez is reacting to the approach of her forty second birthday with the relief and calm now that Estes as become a safer place. Now that all the bad guys are locked away in prison; Branson in particular is a relief.
It’s a sunny spring day, and the town of Estes Park is out for the 33rd Annual Duck Race. It’s is a money maker for the town, The High School Drama Club is at the helm of it this year. What could go wrong?
With this last sentence, we find our world opened to more new characters stepping in to change our story line. The children we know by name, and some new faces share the rapidly evolving mystery, along with the elders who we remember as well. But in saying that it also features some of Winifred’s family Ocean in particular which was part of the unraveling mystery .
This story line with so many twists and turns; with Ms. Abbott feeding us hints like dropping a piece of candy corn as we snatched it up and followed her through solving what became murder, theft, cheating, cat-fishing, and other despicable crimes.
As always very entertaining…..I spent my Sunday with the gang..
