Thirteen authors have all written standalone short stories about Friday the 13th and this one had me glued from the first page.
Steven Metcalf is in hiding from the Seattle Coven of Witches who are out to kill him and use him in a ritual. Steven was feeling lucky hiding in a monastery and waiting for the green light for him to leave. It is Friday 13, 2015 and if he was lucky enough to live till this day his curse would end. The coven must kill him before the 13th, so he does what idiots worldwide do he goes on Facebook to announce he is safe and will be seeing everyone soon. Surprise two men from the coven show up knife in hand ready for the kill. Steven has been translating a book about counter-spells and fighting witches and it saved his life and cost the two men theirs.
On the run again he is told about a witch hunter named Li Hu and when he finds her, she agrees to help him. He must find his ex-lover and intended killer, Maara who is presently carrying his child. The chase is on find Maara and protect his unborn child, live to see another day while fighting witches and demons.
At every turn the coven seems to be aware of his location not hard when he forgets to take out his sim card or goes on social media. The witch hunter has not done much to protect Steven or herself.
This story is short and a perfect addition to the Friday the 13th collection so since I loved this one there is no doubt there will be others in my future.
