DEA Agent Jarrett Brandt fell into drugs as a teen and when he graduated high school, he left the girl he loved, Marissa running after him begging him to stay but he needed to get away from the father who thought he was a failure and his twin who was the pride and joy of the family.
Jarrett stayed away for ten years until he read about his brother’s obituary and the five-year anniversary of his murder. Jarrett worked undercover for the DEA and infiltrated the notorious Consuelo Family in New Mexico but everything went wrong when the DEA went to arrest the head of the family and he escaped. It was Jarrett’s history as a drug user and his arrest following a burglary that brought him to the DEA’s attention, his record made him the perfect person to go undercover and the DEA became his career and kept him clean.
Now there is a million-dollar bounty on his head but rather than go to a safe house he decided to return to his hometown in Washington and visit his brother’s grave. He never expected to see his sister-in-law the girl he left behind and the nephew he never knew. Of course, his father was less than happy and couldn’t resist telling Jarrett that he should have died not his brother who was killed by a mugger when he tried to save the woman the man was attacking.
When Jarrett and Marissa see each other after ten years it was like no time had passed, the love they had for each other was as strong as ever. A wonderful story of redemption and a love that survived time and secrets.
