As a vampire-hating psychic, Char should’ve seen it coming, but she didn’t. Too focused on creating a cure for vampirism after watching her father turned into a bloodsucking menace, she looks at little else, until it’s too late. Not her lab being attacked and destroyed, her life’s work being stolen along with her lab assistant, nor the attractive and dangerous vampire, Julian, who swoops in to save the day, give her a job and the chance to set things right.

But when her lost serum turns up on the streets used as a murder weapon against vamps, she’s forced to hide the truth about her involvement in its development from her new boss in order to join the investigation. As they work together, she’s inexplicably drawn to the very type of creature she should be terrified of. Suddenly, the idea of being bitten becomes a turn on if it’s Julian’s fangs at her pulse.

Forced to admit everything she thought she knew about the bloodsuckers was wrong, Char is left with a decision: Should she create an antidote to save the vampires being murdered—and possibly the one she’s falling for? Or should she finish what she started and try to cure the rest?

The wrong choice could mean a sacrifice she’s not willing to make.

Dr. Charlotte (Char) Devaux is a psychic who as a young child witnessed her father being attacked by a vampire and turned. Her father managed to hide her, or she would have met her father’s fate and fearing harming his family her father disappeared and has not been seen since. Char is determined to find a cure for vampirism and for shifters. She comes from a family of witches, she is a mind bender, a psychic and is telekinetic so her powers make her an asset to anyone who finds out what she is capable of.

She has invented GDK5 the serum she is confident can be a cure and her excitement left her ignoring the possibility of danger till it was too late. The lab is attacked by two vampires who attack her assistant, kidnapping her and stealing the GDK5. The lab is left in ruins, nothing left and now nowhere to even continue her work. She falls into a state of depression, and it is her sister who pushes her out the door to go on a date.

Her actions at her lab using her telekinesis acted like a beacon and when she gets to the restaurant for her date she is grabbed. Her savior turns out to be the one thing she hates more than anything, a vampire. Lieutenant Julian Carver works for SHADE, Supernatural Handling Agency Equity Division, the ones who oversee the supernatural world. Julian insists on taking her to the Island, SHARE headquarters

for her safety and to assist in finding the source of GoDKiller. Her cure kills and is w being used as a weapon

Char fears having the powers to be discover that she was the inventor and needs to find a sample to be able to come up with an antidote. Her sister and mother have also been moved to the Island and when they discover her boss is a vampire, they put wards around the house so that Julian cannot come anywhere near them. Char’s life is in danger and Julian makes sure that she is protected and as they work together, she begins to realize that not all vampires are monsters, in fact she is attracted to this vampire.

The Mordock’s are a mafia vampire family and the ones that destroyed her lab, and they want Char. She is determined to accompany Julian on his missions despite her lack of training, this was all her fault, and she wants to correct it. Thankfully her powers have saved Julian and her on a few occasions, but they are two against a mob.

This was such an interesting take on vampires and the characters are amazing. There are surprises, secrets, romance in addition to the edge of your seat suspense. The book did not end in a cliffhanger but there is no doubt there is more to come. I can’t wait to see what happens to Julian and Charlotte but unfortunately, I must wait. You can’t see me, but I am wearing my sad face.
