Souls shrouded in darkness…

Focused on her studies and duties at the aquarium, Jewels prefers her solitary life. Burned many times and short on trust, she has more in common with her aquatic friends than the people around her. But she never imagined coming face to face with a shark named Clarence…a shark who talks!

As their friendship grows, Jewels must overcome her deep set mistrust. There are dangers, both in the Australian ocean and on dry land. Can Jewels depend on the great white or will his animal nature betray her?

Jewels is studying marine biology, working part-time at the local aquarium and going to a beach she discovered where no one else goes. She visits the tidepools looking for a blue-ringed octopus that always eludes her but what she does discover is a shark.

Jewels is shocked at seeing a great white shark and doubly shocked when he asks her to help him. At first, she believes someone is playing a trick on her but the reality sets in, the shark is talking to her. He is trapped in the tidepool unable to get free to go back in the ocean. Jewels convinced him that the tide wouldchange, and he would be free and when he is he asks if she will come back the next day.

Everyday Jewels happily goesto meet Clarence, the name she gave him. Clarence promises not to hurt her, but it does take some time before she gets up the courage to go into the ocean to swim with him. Jewels looks forward to her time with Clarence. They play together and she trusts him enough to hold on to his fin and allow him to take her further out into the water.

This was such a beautiful story, a friendship between a human and a great white and I have only touched on their story because there is much more to come. This was the first time I rooted for a shark, but Clarence is worth rooting for.
