The problem with being an actor on top of the world is that you have a long way to fall.

Logan Steele is miserable. Hollywood life is dragging him down. Drugs, men, and booze are all too easy. Pulling himself out of his self-destructive spiral, not so much.

Brit Stimple does whatever he can to pay the bills. Right now that means editing porn. But Brit knows he has the talent to make it big, and he gets his break one night when Logan sees him perform on stage.

When Logan arranges for an opportunity for Brit to prove his talent, Brit’s whole life turns around. Brit’s talent shines brightly for all to see, and he brings joy and love to Logan’s life and stability to his out-of-control lifestyle. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy for Logan, and as Brit’s star rises, Logan’s demons marshal forces to try to tear the new lovers apart.

Logan Steele is a Hollywood star who can survive only with a chemical boost or alcohol happily supplied by his manager. Uppers during the day downers at night to sleep and alcohol at all times. Carlton, his manager, is always nearby to hand him a glass or a pill and his help leads to Logan’s star falling. A young man growing up on a farm goes to Hollywood and he was in the right place at that the right time and the rest was history.

While on his way to the set Logan witnesses an accident and when he stops a man begs for help getting his mother out of the car that was smashed. Logan thinks nothing of it and responds just before the car explodes. Whether it was bravery due to him being full of alcohol or because the real Logan aka Wally Padgett was showing his true colors.

Nights with nameless men and always ready for a good time Logan joins his party friends to attend an all-male revue of Oklahoma. While watching the show Logan sets eyes on one of the cast and has no idea how this man will change his life. When he meets the man backstage, he is surprised to learn it was the very man begging for help for his mother, Brit Stimple and Logan asks Brit to join him for dinner at his home. Logan experienced the shock of his life when, after kissing, Brit excused himself and went home.

Brit loves acting, it’s his passion but it doesn’t pay the rent. What pays the rent is his voice-overs for porn movies, and you thought all the moaning was by the actual men playing a scene lol. Brit was thrilled to spend time with Logan, but he wasn’t going to make it easy for him, if he wanted to see Brit again it would be up to him. Logan manages to buy tickets for the last showing of the play Brit is in and brings along a friend, a friend who recognizes talent and offers Brit a role in a movie, the right place at the right time.

The movie is the same one Logan is starring in only this may be Logan’s last chance since the last film was met with bad reviews and pulled from many theaters. The handwriting is on the wall where Logan is concerned but Brit is determined to help him. Since they are spending a lot of time together Brit is always there when Carlton is ready with a drink or pills and manages to turn Logan away from it. Everything is going well until Brit gets another part and is away from Logan, leaving Carlton there to take his place but not in a positive way.

A Star is Born, one of my favorite movies and now, Only the Brightest Stars, one of my favorite books. Andrew Grey has brought the Hollywood lights up front and real, it is understandable why some fall into the bottle or pills, but can these two men beat the odds and have a life filled with love, and careers free from all the pitfalls that so many fall into.

I picked up this book and didn’t put it down till I finished it, which is something I don’t recommend if you have a dog, self-explanatory lol.
