“Hell my name is Kendra, I am a werewolf, and yes, I suck at introductions. This is my story.” This is how the story starts, and it grabbed me right away. Kendra is a werewolf who has been raised by vampires. Her adopted father kept trying for a daughter, but was only able to have hybrid, human/vampire sons. He finally got what he wanted when he adopted Kendra.
Kendra was not very welcome in the family, and most of her brothers did not welcome her. The only brother who cared about her was Marc, the first born son. She went to Marc when she decided she needed to search for her biological parents and find out why they gave her up. She is hoping that since she is a werewolf, she can enter werewolf territory and find someone who knows who her parents are, but she is not having any luck.
Marc decided to try a new approach. He would pick a fight with a werewolf and when Kendra came to save him, they might get some answers. Unfortunately, the answers Kendra finally found were not what she expected and they turned her life around. The werewolf Marc picked a fight with was Max. For some reason, he took Kendra to a place where she would find the answers she wanted, ones she could have never imagined in her wildest dreams.
Kendra is a hybrid, not a human/hybrid but a wolf and vampire hybrid. Whenever these hybrids appear there is chaos, bloodshed, and warring between the wolves and the vampires. She is a danger to all around her if her beast cannot be controlled. How did she become this hybrid beast? Was her mother a wolf and her father a vampire? The how and why she is what she is, you will have to find out for yourself.
Marc and Max are determined to help Kendra. She will need all the help she can get, because when the beast comes out it is uncontrollable. No one will help her, since they all look at her as a destructive force that will leave bodies in her wake.
This was such an interesting story, a wolf raised by vampires, a young she-wolf who is much more than can ever be expected. It is a story of the love of an adopted brother for his wolf sister and his total devotion to her. It is also a story of a blossoming love between Max and Kendra. The book ends with a cliffhanger leaving us to wonder what will happen between Max, Marc, and Kendra when everyone wants them dead. There are surprises, betrayals, and some violence.
