In a sleepy little parish just outside of New Orleans, murder is no rare occurrence.

Sergeant Lance Knight has a pile of unsolved homicide cases on his desk. On the surface, none seem to be connected. The victims are all men with money or power. An investment banker, a lawyer, and a local politician. They don’t socially run in the same circles. Lance can’t find a connection.

Working closely with coroner Gina Goodwin, Lance and Gina discover a pattern. Three unrelated things the bodies all have in common—a string of lethal connections. Is it just a coincidence, or is it something more?

Things heat up when Lance realizes he’s getting close to finding the killer, and everything spirals out of control. Can he piece it together before it’s too late?

When two fishermen find a dead man, it will be the beginning of a mystery that Sgt. Lance Knight of the Special Investigation Division, will have to solve but it is only the beginning. Gina Goodwin the coroner believes the man died from a snake bite. The man is the vice-president of an investment firm and when an effigy is found it leads to the belief voodoo is involved.

Before Lance can get anywhere with the first murder a second corpse is discovered, this one is a defense attorney, and it is believed that a snake is once again responsible. It will take some time before lab tests reveal the type of snake, but the first thing Lance must focus on is the murders and finding a killer.

Dead man number three is the deputy mayor. Three dead men with no apparent connection all dying by what appears to be a snake bite, a snake that doesn’t exist in the states, not in New Orleans but on Snake Island near Brazil. How did it get here and whose possession is it in.

While Lance is doing everything in his power to find the murderer he is also dealing with his girlfriend, Lexie. She wants more than Lance is willing to give, she fills a need, a beautiful woman in his bed to help relieve stress, she wants a commitment he is unwilling to give. He is ready to call it an end but first things first, a murderer.

Lance’s search will lead him from one dead end to another. When a snake appears in his bed it proves that whoever is responsible has put a target on his back. Three murders of three men who have nothing to do with each other have fallen victim to the same killer.

This was an interesting mystery following the clues, tracking a venomous snake with the three main characters working side by side; the Captain, Lance and Gina the coroner. Suspense, secrets and surprises and the beginning of a series that promises more of the same.
