Layla and Rupex should never have crossed paths.
But now that they have—they could be each other’s salvation.
Rupex is the King of a decimated pride and the captain of the Comet Stalker, a starcraft traveling through the Felix Orbus Galaxy on a quest to avoid more loss and heartache. After Queen Fever killed almost all the pride females of cub-bearing age, the Leonids are facing a population crisis. Rupex needs to start living again after losing the women in his life. Could a human surrogate carry his child and reawaken his interest in life?
Layla is a scrappy survivor from Sapien-Three, a ravaged planet where most humans sell themselves to the highest bidders in hopes of staying alive. When an unexpected encounter with a towering, savage-looking lion-man shows her a better way, she jumps at the opportunity. Layla knows that being his surrogate could set her up for a comfortable life where she’ll never struggle again. She just has to get the proud, stubborn King to see her as an equal and accept her proposal!
From Possessed by the Leonid King
“Surrogacy is not an option. Surrogacy is medical, clinical, and the father of the child has a purely professional relationship with the mother.”
“If you pay me, that makes it professional.” Layla gave him her best, brightest smile.
The elevator car shook with the force of his sudden enraged roar. “This isn’t a joke, human!”
“I wasn’t laughing, Leonid!” I wasn’t laughing at all. I might have peed a little…
“My medical officer has been researching a way to make human eggs compatible with Leonid sperm. It can be done. What cannot be done is artificial insemination. Our systems are compatible but different. I would have to breed you. Do you know what it is like to be bred by a Leonid? It’s not a single occurrence. I would have to possess you, over and over, day after day,” he panted, towering over her, his glowering eyes inches from her own.
Layla shook her head, jaw popping open as his massive frame covered hers. She was able to see ridge after ridge of muscle through the snug material of his uniform coat, and the muscles of his thighs stood out like ropes.
And there was something sizable between them, something proportionate to the head-sized paws pressing into the steel walls on either side of her face.
No, I can’t imagine what it would be like to be possessed by the Leonid. But I want to find out…

Layla is a human and a survivor from the planet Sapien-Three where humans sell themselves to the highest bidders to stay alive. Layla had not sold herself, not by choice, but a one-night stand trafficked her and she woke up as cargo on the Comet Stalker spaceship. The captain of the ship is Rupex the king of a decimated pride where all the childbearing females have died from Queen Fever. The pride is without new cubs and only very young females not of age to reproduce.
Layla has been betrayed and has no idea where she is headed and what will meet her at the end of the trip. When Rupex discovers that she was trafficked something that is totally illegal he removes her from the cargo hold to a room and must figure out where to take her. Since losing his queens and with no hope of having cubs he approaches Layla with a possible contract, be his surrogate.
Marcus his medical advisor and the only one onboard besides him has come up with a way for a human to be compatible with a Leonid (an alien with lion like features) so if Layla agrees to take the shots and have sex with Ru, she will be compensated enough for her to survive on her own. With no other choices Layla agrees and then she discovers that they will have to have sex every day to catch the few days that a human woman ovulates.
Ru is huge everywhere, hairy and some of his species were said to kill and eat humans but that was found to be not true.
The shots she takes have an unexpected side effect, an insatiable appetite for sex. When I said that Ru was large all over it was an understatement but soon Layla not only gets used to his size but wants him all the time. As Ru and Layla fall into a routine she makes it clear that she will have his cub or cubs but does not want to have anything to do with raising them, unfortunately Ru is beginning to fall for her and wants her for more than just his surrogate, but his feelings are not reciprocated or are they.
A Leonid has never had a human mate. They have absolutely nothing in common, but it would not be the first time that opposites found themselves attracted to someone different than themselves and Layla and Ru are as different as they come. When Queen Fever begins to appear in other sectors of space planets are cut off and a quarantine is started. Although there was a vaccine developed when it first appeared it is a slightly different variety and needs more investigation.
This book was a different, than any I have read previously. The thought that was new to me, was a story of Alien/ Human sex.
