Ciro Navarro has never had it easy, but he learned to survive. Nightmares of a past he cannot erase plague him but thankfully, much of his horrible life is in the rearview mirror. He lives in the present, focusing on his found family, lifelong friends, and the job that fulfills him. Ciro’s circle is small but tight; if you’re in it, you are his world. And somehow he’s become a rescuer—at the slightest hint someone he cares about is in trouble, he comes running.

After years of hard work and patience, Xander has fulfilled his goal and made a name for himself as a world-renowned chef. He lives his dream every day: cooking up and serving recipes that bring people joy. Though he has restaurants in several locations, it’s Haven Hart Xander calls home, and he can’t imagine settling anywhere else. Life is good. In fact, everything in Xander’s life is perfect…until people from his past start turning up dead.

When word of a serial killer hell-bent on ending Xander comes to light, Ciro’s instincts kick in and he vows to keep Xander, the sweet and humble man he finds himself gravitating toward, alive. The seriousness of what is happening rattles Xander, and he allows Ciro into his home to protect him. Close proximity heats things up and shows Ciro and Xander how much they’ve come to mean to each other, but the precautions they’ve taken may not be enough to keep them safe.

When the unthinkable happens, they are put to the test. Can Xander and Ciro survive the crazed serial killer who stands in the way of their forever?

Ciro Navarro is the head of security for Joker’s Sin, a man who with a look can scare a person straight and at the same time doesn’t hesitate to help his friends which he has proven over and over again in the first three books. He is a man who’s past still plagues him but when he found Joker’s Sin, he finally found the family he wanted and needed. Now it is his story and he once again puts himself in the line of fire this time for a man he barely knows.

Xander Vayne is a renowned chef with several restaurants but his favorite is the one in Haven Hart and is the one he spends most of his time at. Xander is a man totally consumed with cooking and because of that he doesn’t even watch the news or he would discover that two of the people he shared a house with during culinary school were brutally murdered. Now he and another man are all that are left and the police are sure they have targets on their backs. When Ciro finds out what is happening he knows that even with a police presence there is only one person capable of protecting Xander and that person is him.

Forced to stay out of sight Ciro and Xander find themselves attracted to each other and now Ciro not only wants to protect him he wants to kill the person responsible for putting fear into the heart of a man he now cares for. Like so many others Xander is so wrapped up in the job he loves that he never takes the time to realize that he has a lot of people willing to go the extra mile to protect him and now that his life is in danger, he finally knows he is not alone.

Before long the killer strikes again leaving Xander the only one left. The murders are horrific, torture, mutilation leaving the victim barely recognizable. It will take every bit of Ciro’s talent and knowledge to keep Xander safe. When a nightmare grips Ciro, Xander finally realizes the horror he faces from his past but is unwilling to ask and it is a horror that would destroy a person.

This is the last book in the series and my hope is that Ms. King is busy with her next one. Every book involving Haven Hart kept me glued to the pages and took my mind off all the craziness surrounding us today. I can’t recommend this series and all the books in Haven Hart highly enough. I as a reviewer give 100% to my review, I am honest when I say I love a series but that is only my opinion so I suggest giving the series a try you will either love them like me or decide the series is not for you, but it will be your decision.
