A darkness is coming, and a coven is born.

Just as Mercy pieces her life back together after a vicious attack, she notices a stranger lingering in the shadows, and watching her every move.

Mercy isn't certain if what she's seeing is real, but when Mercy crashes her car on the side of the road, she's rescued by a handsome and mysterious guy named Caleb, who she finds herself both drawn to, and afraid of.

Caleb reveals to Mercy that she’s not only a witch, but that she died in 1692, and is one of the universal elements born onto the earth, to rid the world of vampires who threaten mankind.

As Caleb tries to charm himself back into her life, Mercy begins to have visions of her past-life, and just how powerful she really is . . .and how dangerous he is.

This story takes you on a journey of love, friendship, betrayal, and abduction, in a world filled with witches, vampires and werewolves, which Mercy and her friends never knew existed.

Mercy must discover who she truly is, and find the powers within her to save her friends, and the entire world.

Although this is a YA book I would strongly recommend it to any adult interested in a fast moving, compelling and suspenseful story filled with witches, vampires, werewolves, suspense and one surprise after another.

Mercy Brawling is about to be eighteen and could never have imagined the craziness life would throw at her. Her mother the one who always seemed to love her took a knife and attempted to kill her leaving her unable to accept being touched by anyone. Her mother was sent to a psychiatric hospital and showed absolutely no remorse over what she did. It was only after the arrival of Caleb Blackwell that Mercy’s story came to light. Mercy is a witch and her mother was drawing her power from her. Mercy was living with her aunt Lily since her mother’s arrest and Mercy had no idea that she was also a witch.

Mercy’s story began three hundred years ago when she and four others were gifted with powers and formed a coven of Chosen Ones but she died by hanging and it was once again just before her eighteenth birthday the day she would have her Awakening. Caleb finally found her and was able to reincarnate her so she could once again take her place as the leader of the coven, go through her Awakening and become immortal. She is ready for the Awakening not so much the immortal part but realizes that without her the coven would no longer be able to work at destroying the evil in the world.

In addition to be an extremely powerful witch Mercy discovers that she is also a vampire hunter and after her Awakening she would be in danger from the vampires who want her and her powerful blood. Her only concern is the safety of her family and friends, Shannon, Cami and Riley the boy who loves her but knows there is no chance for anything but friendship. All her life her mother hid who she was – a girl who had the ability to heal and could have helped so many.

Mercy begins to remember her past, who she was back in the sixteen hundreds and the two men she loved, Dorian a vampire and Caleb a witch and one of the Chosen. She has to learn about her powers and has to at all costs protect the ones she loves. This book grabbed me from the first page and it just got more exciting and suspenseful as it neared the end. At the age of eighteen Mercy has to fight evil, an enormous responsibility for one so young but one she is more than ready, willing and able to do.

Although this book is a cliffhanger something I definitely hate I had no problem because at the time of this review all the books are in print and I am now ready to start book two and follow Mercy on her crusade against vampires and those that threaten the world.
