By day, Elise draws and paints, spilling out the horrific visions of her tortured mind. By night, she walks the streets, selling her body to the highest bidder.

And then they come into her life: a trio of impossibly beautiful vampires: Terence, Maria, and Edward. When they encounter Elise, they set an explosive triangle in motion

Terence wants to drain her blood. Maria wants Elise . . . as lover and partner through eternity. And Edward, the most recently converted, wants to prevent her from making the same mistake he made as a young abstract expressionist artist in 1950s Greenwich Village: sacrificing his artistic vision for immortal life. He is the only one of them still human enough to realize what an unholy trade this is.

Immortal Things will grip you in a vise of suspense that won’t let go until the very last moment…when a shocking turn of events changes everything and demonstrates—truly—what love and sacrifice are all about.

Elise Gronman is a painter by day and streetwalker by night and every night she ventures out to ply her trade she is filled with fear. Always aware that she could become another statistic a whore found dead in the streets with no one to miss her but to continue her art she needs a way to pay for rent and food.

Elise uses chalk and pencils, and her drawings are graphic and horrific but black and white is all she uses since her life lacks color. One night while on the street she is approached by a handsome man riding a motorcycle, a man that her instincts tell her to stay away from but the hundred-dollar bill he gives her clouds her mind and allows him into her apartment and her world.

Terrence saw Elise as his next meal because he is a vampire and works the streets at night looking for those no one will miss. Elise was targeted for death but her gruesome drawings saved her. Terrence saw someone who knew death through her pictures and so he left with just taking a few sips. The next time he saw her he convinced her to accompany him to his home where she met Edward and Maria the two vampires he lives with and after seeing Maria, Elise realized that her attraction to her was something she never felt for a man.

Maria wants Elise and wants her forever which would require making her a vampire so she admits what she is and hopes Elise will want to join her. Unfortunately, the knowledge Maria supplied her with put a bullseye on her back because Edward and Terrence know if she does not join them then she must die. Edward wants to warn Elise, Maria wants her as her lover and Terrence just wants her gone.

A human and three vampires all wanting different things from each other but who will get their wish. Edward once a painter like Elise still after fifty years cannot come to terms with what he must do to survive, and the book takes us back fifty years to the day he too met Terrence and how it changed his life and not for the better. Now in the present Elise is faced with the same decision that Edward made a decision that would be made from love like Edward but is Elise stronger than Edward and can she resist the temptation of eternity with the vampire she fell in love with.

This is not a book for someone with a weak stomach because it is very violent and graphic, and the vampires are different than any I have read about before. Despite the violence the author gave such a realistic and graphic look at what a streetwalker goes through and all the movies and books I have read on the subject this time I truly could feel what Elise felt. I was also a story of survival to pursue one’s dreams.
